TGIF!

Just wanted to remind you that the 2nd Saturday of the month is coming up next week, so our June meet-up is on the horizon.  Here are the details:
  • Sat, June 14
  • 10 am-12 pm
  • Hanscom Dog Park
  • 32nd and Center, it's in the northwest portion of the park, up on the hill (not down by the lake)
  • $5 per family donation goes to help needy rescue dogs
Bring your pups, and a chair or something to sit on and we'll have fun watching the wieners run and play (and chase the big dogs at the fence!)
There's a big hill for those little wiener legs to run up and down so they will be pooped when they get home!  But there's also lots of shade for us to relax in.
Look forward to seeing you there!

The Council Bluffs shelter is overflowing. :(  The dog section is overcapacity, mostly with large dogs, such as a Great Dane, a Dalmation, a shepherd mix, labs and lab mixes, hounds....they do have some small dogs like chihuahuas and poms.  There was one lone doxie mix puppy looking for a home.  I think he will go quickly, however, so if you're interested, get to CB asap!
Their biggest problem is cats and kittens. Someone "dropped off" 17 cats yesterday.  They were already overcapacity in the cat section having several mamas with babies right now.  But the addition of 17 cats is going to really strain the tiny shelter.
The sad reality of this is, that if cats aren't adopted asap, some will be euthanized this weekend.  So that said, if you or anyone you know is thinking about getting a cat, please go to the Council Bluffs Shelter and look there first.  They have adorable cats and kittens of all ages, sizes, coat color and hair lengths.  They have a sampling of just about everything!  (This is coming from me, someone highly allergic to cats--I just don't want to see them have to suffer due to human error.  I mean, who has 17 cats just sitting around to drop off at a shelter???)
All animals come fully vetted with all shots, spayed/neutered, and microchipped.
Dogs: $120 ~  Adult Cats: $50 ~  Kittens: $70
2821 S 15th St., Council Bluffs, IA

Hours: 1-5 pm M-F, 12-4 pm Sat
Please share info with friends and family.  You never know who might be interested in adding to their family right now!

Lastly, Wag N Train Terrier Rescue has a fundraising event on facebook starting up tomorrow! (Sat, June 7th) It's an online auction, called the Animal Rescue Auction, you can go the the Wag N Train facebook page to join or use this link:
You have to join the group to participate in the auction.  Believe me, it's worth it!  There are so many awesome things up for bid!  Both dog related and non-dog related items.  Anything from home decor, to kitchen items, to bath and beauty, to dog clothes, collars, leashes, treats, decorations--just everything!  Here are just a few I copied:
A fancy rhinestone dog collar for your little (or big) diva.  An adorable handmade doggie themed quilt.
A Bissell stick vac!  Great starting bid price!  Dog picture frame--there are many dog decorations, books, plaques, even glassware and vases!  Also things like Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, jewelry, candles, kitchen items, etc.
And they all start at a nice low price....  All proceeds will go towards the medical bills of the rescue dogs at Wag N Train Terrier Rescue. Although they don't have any wieners right now, they did rescue Mama Daisy and her 5 puppies last summer.  And my handsome Trent who is now Oliver.  And Bobby, and Dolly, and Snoopy, and Stanley and Stella, and Mocha and Latte and Bailey and....do I need to keep going???
Daisy during pregnancy, and then with her 5 babies after they were born.
Moral of the story:  You can get some great stuff at great prices and support a great rescue.  How's that for greatness?
There's that handsome Trent Harry Oliver! ;)  That boy will always have my heart!

Have a GREAT weekend!!!  ;)
