  • A ride for all skill levels. Great place to ride, very scenic. Afterwards drinks/food at Houlihan's in Firewheel Town Center. I understand they have a happy apps hour all day Sunday with $3.95 appetizers. Also hear they have a good selection of beers.

Well with all the rain DORBA has closed the trail. It will be too wet so we are canceling for tomorrow and rescheduling for Sunday March 30th at 1:30

I googled "Garland TX weather forecast" and the weeather sites are saying "100% chance of precipitation". I think that means it's raining there. Darn. I was looking forward to riding with y'all. Oh well, farmers should be happy. We've had too many drought years in TX.

We are watching the weather. So stayed tuned. If it rains like they say the trail will be too wet to ride.

Can't make it this time due to family obligations, but want to give mountain biking a try. Lisa, thank you for the offer to borrow a bike. I'll definitely take you up on it soon. Have fun!

Lisa Funk Lemay, I have made an event for beginner riders. Hybrid bikes, beach bikes with gears, cyclocross bikes, mtn bikes ok. People from your group can join freely. http://www.meetup.com/Greenville-Texas-Bicycle-Transportation/events/171159052/
    Suggested date 03/29/14 Saturday.
Taco lunch and super easy hiking/biking trail.

I have a mens mtn bike and a unisex s/m hybrid bike that I can loan for my event.

Hi all, just wanted everyone to be aware that this trail is not suitable for hybrid bikes. If you do not have a mountain bike with wide tires and suspension it would not be safe for you to ride this trail.

Ok, cool. If you want, I'll plan a social ride for the most beginner of beginner riders, on a very flat short trail. Let me get through my calendar and make one on GTXB and I'll link you to it to re-post.

I'm also willing to lend a bike or 2 to DCTRWPC members for the ride I'm organizing, and we have a great taco restaurant in Greenville (Taco Casa) to pick up lunch from (cheap like taco bell prices).

If you guys have a lot of beginners, I recommend Harry Moss Park right next to White Rock Lake (http://dorba.org/trail.php?t=12), LBHouston, and Greenbelt (http://dorba.org/trail.php?t=11). Most of Greenbelt is a dual track gravel road, and the rest is crushed gravel single track that doesn't have close trees, jumps, or steep hills. It connects US380 to a mtn bike trail in the forest, though, in Lake Roberts SP.

I will re-post this on DORBA.org meetup, if you like. Please message.

As a DORBA member (DORBA maintains this trail) I say thanks, and will attend if possible. Please also consider Sister Grove Trail for a great social ride. SG has good picnic areas, a large open field for games, and a winding, scenic trail with lots of short elevation changes for an exciting ride.
