Julie, Lisa and I are overwhelmed with the response we’ve been getting to the new and improved Drinking Liberally. It is exciting to see new members join us and see the continuing participation of our original group. It was high time for us to do some new things and we love trying venues and events with our Drinking Liberally buddies. We also appreciate the distance some of you travel to participate and the time that all over you give with your presence. We don’t take it lightly.
We have some thoughts to share that can add to your enjoyment of our gatherings:
1. As we try new venues and events we know that some will work out better than others. If you’re unhappy with a specific venue, just share with your hosts. Our bartenders and wait staff are tending large groups during busy times and deserve our respect for their efforts. A thoughtful approach is always appreciated.
2. “Drinking Liberally” is just a play on words, not a commandment. No one need feel uncomfortable ordering non-alcoholic beverages. I know I don’t. (My favorite this summer is ½ soda and ½ cranberry juice.) Please don’t feel this is a college kegger and that over-indulgence is a requirement. This is social sipping only and no one wants a DUI…or worse.
3. Living Liberally/Drinking Liberally is about creating tolerant social atmosphere for progressives of all stripes. We welcome open minded, friendly discussions in city and time when that is hard to come by.
4. If you have something you’d prefer to relate to us, your hosts, privately; please feel free to do that. We can be privately messaged on Facebook and we welcome your discretion.
Best wishes and please visit again. We all benefit by being involved in an interesting mix of people and each one of you is what makes that happen.
Diana, Julie and Lisa
