Film Shooters Meet & Greet

Hey Everyone!

I am really excited about this group and thank each of you who expressed an interest in participating. I would love to have a informal meet & greet where we could all meet each other and discuss/plan some future events. Hopefully you can all come out to Ascension Coffee on Thursday, August 8th around 6:45pm.

Joined the flickr group. Posting photos on this site is easy enough. Groups such as the "Dallas Photography Group" have photos posted after most of their group outings.

I'm not sure how to send a blast out, so I'll put it here.

I'm part of a North Texas Film Photography Flickr group and would be honored for you guys to join there too. I'm not sure how easy it is to post photos on this website, but Flickr is built for that. http://www.flickr.com/groups/dfw_metro_argosy

    (David said this was alright.)

Good group that came and participated. A bit disappointing that only half of the RSVPs actually came to the Meetup.

Does anyone know how to turn an image into a negative using photoshop? I plan to print the negative onto transparency sheets and contact print. Used to do cyanotype and would like to try it again.

Depends on how big and the quality you would like. There are great online resources for making digital negatives and printing them out on transparent media with photo paper settings. Seems a lot of alt photo people are going this route now. I'm told there is a significant learner curve to get consistent results but I've seen some really amazing work. Another option would be to use someone like Gamma Tech and doing an 8x10 LVP output from your LARGE file.

Apple-I / Control-I depending on system. Or just "inverse" in Image menu. And yes - paper would work just fine.

Does anyone know a good source for photo chemicals?

Locally, it's Don's in Dallas and Arlington Camera. Both have limited selection, but if you need something "today". Freestyle is good when they have what you want. B&H has just about everything. You can even find stuff on Amazon.

I forgot about Arlington, even though that's my favorite new shop.

Does anybody here want a free tote full of old Kodak Photo Paper to play with an enlarger or use as paper negatives? I'm never going to get around to it and it's in the way. Estimated 1800 sheets of 8x10 Polycontrast III RC Glossy
900 sheets of 5x7 Kodabrome II RC plus some odds and ends 11x14 stuff.

It's been stored inside, but not refrigerated for at least a dozen years.

If somebody calls dibs I'll sit on it till we're both at a meet up and bring it. If I don't hear anything over the next few days I'll toss it.

I wish I could make it. But with out of town guests coming on Friday there is no way to escape the house cleaning frenzy!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
