This is compliments of our member Megan!
Unfortunately I cannot make it as I am teaching a class for Wednesday evening. This will not be a social group event in the sense of meeting other members but I strongly recommend that you go to this tasting, walk around and taste some wines. There will be plenty of people to chat with although this event is not exclusive to our group.
If you are going, please RSVP on our site so that Megan can gauge more or less how many people will show up from our group.
Join Gloria Collell at Veritas Wine Room for a trip to Spain at this free tasting of the latest wines of the Heredad Collection, the Ferrer family’s collection of boutique estates in Spain’s finest regions. Gloria is visiting Dallas from Cataluña, Spain to share her knowledge and passion for these high caliber wines. Gloria’s engaging and vibrant personality and vast knowledge of Spanish wine will make this “tour through the Spanish wine regions” educational and fun. Spanish pinchos (small bites) will be provided to taste with the wines.
Please find below the list of wines that will be tasted:

ABOUT GLORIA COLLELL
Hailing from the Penedés region of Spain, near Barcelona, Gloria Collell was born into a family dedicated to wine. Her childhood memories revolved around wine: the aroma of the bodega; the fairs where, even as a child, she helped her parents show wine; and most of all, the tastings her family conducted at home, with parents and siblings discussing preferences among different wines and brands. In 1990 she began to study enology in order to carry on the family business, and her training took her to Burgundy and to the Penedès where she lived and worked as an enologist and eventually took a position working with the Ferrer Wine Estates, the Ferrer family’s collection of boutique wineries.
Gloria has worked on a number of different projects with the Ferrer family, from the technical department for the wineries Segura Viudas and René Barbier where she worked with the winemaking teams, to the export department where she managed the introduction of new wines within the company’s large portfolio, to educating on the wines of the Ferrer Wine Estates, and even developing a line of her own wines which are available in Europe.
When asked what brings her the most pleasure from working in the wine business, Gloria responds, “Meeting people from all over the world. Wine industry people have a certain special something -- an openness, a lust for life, a love of good food and conversation, and they treat you like part of their family. I find this common denominator in all wine regions, from the Old World to the New. The greatest benefit in having a long wine industry career is the memories of all the great moments you’ve lived.”
