Book Discussion: "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin

After reading about "Man's Search for Meaning" I stumbled across this book in an airport bookstore, and thought it would be an interesting contrast. It also looks like a relatively light, quick read.

From Amazon.com:

"Award-winning author Gretchen Rubin is back with a bang, with The Happiness Project. The author of the bestselling 40 Ways to Look at Winston Churchill has produced a work that is “a cross between the Dalai Lama’s The Art of Happiness and Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love.” (Sonya Lyubomirsky, author of The How of Happiness: A Scientific Approach to Getting the Life You Want) In the vein of Julie and Julia, The Happiness Project describes one person’s year-long attempt to discover what leads to true contentment. Drawing at once on cutting-edge science, classical philosophy, and real-world applicability, Rubin has written an engaging, eminently relatable chronicle of transformation."

I really would like to participate in a children's literature reading club. I heard several ladies express an interest. What should we read first?

Another suggestion is to look at the Newbery choices and finalists from last year. Here is a link:http://www.ala.org/al...

Loving the idea of a kid/young adult lit book club offshoot in addition to our regular monthly selections! Keep the suggestions coming - I'll post a selection for September soon!

Gosh! You all blew me away tonight! I had such a good time and so enjoyed every one of you. I just love the humor and intelligence and diversity if our group. I particularly appreciate the adorable Kat lending us her youth! I am so hopeful to repeat this many times!

Such a great group discussion tonight! It was so wonderful meeting the fabulous ladies and talking about creating our own happiness. I see this as a starting point to many future meetups and shenanigans. I'm watching you ladies. ;)

Great fun and wonderful discussion...Susan somehow got us back on topic for most of the time. Looking forward to someone organizing our 'road trip' on the train...to anywhere!

Running late--will need to pass. I've enjoyed reading the book--especially the chapter Remember Love.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
