Al Franken as US Senator means the ominous Metric System may engulf the USA

This CNN article isn't as bad nor as funny as I thought it would be, but I do think that talking about the US converting to the metric system in ominous tones is baffling to say the least.

Al Franken is now a US Senator. This gives the Democrats a solid dominance in the US government now. The commentary writer instills fear into our hearts with this little nugget of gold, " . . . liberal control in 1970s led to bill to convert the US to the metric system." Run for your lives! The metric system cometh!
