How/when did you become an atheist? [or agnostic, non-theist, freethinker, humanist, pagan, or whatever label you choose for yourself]

As I became an adult I realized I didn't like the story of Jesus.....why would you have to sacrifice your child for mankind? I researched several religions and just couldn't find a match for me. So I thought I was agnostic. I have always been fond of science and reading about the universes etc and decided there couldn't be a "GOD". Now.....I don't pray......however I do give gratitude everyday for my life and loved ones. I am a humble person with no need of an afterlife. I make the best of my life and do what I can to help others in need and rescue animals, domestic or wild you name it. There are days I am embarrassed to be human because of the religion our society hides behind. I feel more authentic then religious fenatics who are so much more judgemental than I could ever be! And if there is a God........he's not for me because he has allowed too much suffering on our planet! Evolution explains our presence and Steven Hawkin's research confirms my beliefs.

Introduction

Hi! I am a 61 year old professional. I have a huge love of animals and volunteer for Texas GSP Rescue. I am a Democrat and proud of it. While I don't believe in God I do believe I need to make the best of my life and help where ever needed.
