I'm sorry you all had to deal with such irresponsible adults AND people responding to this email chain in such a rude manner.

Anyway, perhaps you guys can just start deleting people from the group if they RSVP but don't show?  At least put a warning that it could happen?  I don't really know since I've never organized a meet up, but that would be my reaction as an organizer :).

That's a good point, Michael. I was wondering the same thing when these dating events started being scheduled for this group over a year ago.

For the people who keep asking to be removed from the group, that is another example of how unprofessional some members in this group are. Asking others to do something that is your responsibility is quite irresponsible. If you want to be removed from the group, I suggest you take matters into your hands like a mature, professional adult. Simply go to the group home page, click on My Profile (right side of page, same line as Home, Members, etc) and select "Leave this group".

I am an organizer in Houston but I do a few events with this group when visiting my brother. First off I will probably leave this group because why in the world would the organizers allow for a "speed dating" event?  Meetup is to make friends and from there you can find dating partners. Why would organizers even consider doing business with you sleazeballs? Ever since I joined for the life of me I couldn't understand why anyone would allow a dating service to have anything to do with the group. I organize two groups and trust me, I would never allow this sort of thing to be planned in my groups. This is just tacky and shame on the organizers for subjecting their members to this nonsense.
