DEV 401 and DEV 501 Study Group, session # 7

This is it!  this week the 401 study group (11:00 AM to 12:00) will be doing an intense exam prep.  We will do a rapid fire Q&A session.  Don't be nervous.  We won't call on you,...just bring your questions.  Scour the web-sites, and wear your thinking cap.  We will keep the pace up.  Share your study ideas here and in the files section by posting suggestions/references, websites and study guides before class.

This month we will instantiate (get it ?!)  session number 7 of the 501 study group (12:30 to 1:30) and will cover chapter 6 of the Apex Programmers Guide (also available in the files section of, Dynamic Apex (yum!!!). Dynamic Apex is slightly more obtuse than what we have covered so far, but understanding this subject will make you a true ninja.  If possible, please read the chapter and run through the exercises on your own, and come armed with your questions.

Additional notes: If you are studying for either the 401 or 501, you are welcome to the other section as well. No tests, just great support and camaraderie.

Hi Gang.... I passed the Developer test! Thanks to everyone for all the support. This worked for me:

I studied chapters 1-7 in a lot of detail. I has some real life projects in which I got to practice a lot of security, workflow.

But I think the best 'shortcut' to it all is those Mock Exam questions posted here. Most (if not ALL) of the questions were out of those mock exams. -- I went thru the mock exams and selected my answers. Reviewed the 'correct' ones. Researched many of my iffy question by testing the steps in Salesforce, and/or searching Help and the internet for 'consensus'.

I marked the right answer, but left my wrong answers highlighted as well. (cont'd)

(continuing) This morning, I reviewed all the test Q&A, and if I still didn't understand the 'right' answer vs. my wrong answer, I did a bit more research.

The facility is near Midway & LBJ (the Tax building) 6th floor. You just give them your name and registration paperwork. All your stuff goes in a locker and you go into a testing room full of cubicles. They sign you in, read the instruction and start the test.

I ran through all 60 questions the first time in about 35 minutes, marking those I wasn't 100% sure with "review later". I spent the next 30-40 minutes going over about 20 questions, whittling away at them until I felt comfortable with all my answers and clicked "Submit Test", and saw the happy word "Passed". Good luck to all. YOU can do it.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
