I would like to invite you all to the MONTHLY crop of the Dallas Crafters Marathon. This is a great space for crafting, to see pictures of the space check out Dallas Games Marathon (DGM) on Facebook in the Photo's section. They have a website as well.
How long does this last? This event lasts from Friday (6pm to Midnight) Saturday (10 am to Midnight) to Sunday (10am to 3pm).
Who are we? We are a group of crafty people that like to craft together and share ideas, it's that simple. We are not Direct Sales Consultants who have classes at our Meetup to promote sales.
Why did we start this Meetup? There are very few crafty stores in our area that can hold a group of crafters and still have room for our supplies AND not be crowded. We simply wanted to craft with other like-minded people, NOT be cramped and not have to drive 45 minutes to an hour to another town.
Why the location? Put simply, it is available to us and we feel lucky! This facility is used for a Board Game group and they use this facility a couple times a month with attendance normally over 100. This is a large facility! We normally use the facility on the last weekend of the month; however sometimes we will use it other weekends.
Why ask for money to crop? We have both been to several crops and retreat’s over the years paying various prices for the events. However, we have had to drive sometimes an hour to get to those locations. The money for this Meetup goes to the DGM Team to maintain the facility and we do not keep any of the attendance fees, it is NOT about profit for us. The more people we have, the less the fee will eventually be.
What do you get? A six foot table (there are two large round tables that two persons could share), folding chair, lounging couch, kitchen with 2 full size fridges, microwave, coffee pot, bathrooms and soda and snacks for a small fee on the honor system (you may bring your own if you like). You will also meet wonderful crafty people to share ideas and projects!
Who can attend? We are open to adult men and women crafters above the age of 15. We can accommodate quilters, sewing groups, stampers, scrapbookers, jewelry makers etc! We can comfortably fit 22 crafters with their supplies on a 6' table.
How much does it cost? There is a small fee of $25 for this event; you may reserve your spot by Paypal-ing me your $25 fee at [masked] (be sure to include your name). You may also send me a check, email me for my address at the email for Paypal. If you register at the door the fee is also $25; but your spot is not reserved. Again, all fee’s go to the space owners for improvements to and letting us use the space.
What do I need to bring? Bring your projects and supplies to work on. If you plan on painting or doing a messy project, please bring a dollar store shower curtain liner to the event (there is a Dollar General in the shopping center). We must protect the tables and carpet so the DGM Guys will let us come back. If you need electrical, bring an extension cord, we have limited electrical outlets. Bring a cushion for your chair, or if necessary a comfortable computer chair.
If you would like to be a vendor, or have a class please email me separately. We can post these events separately and work out the cost of using the facility. There are two separate rooms, so crafting can go on in one room and a class in the other.
