The Dallas Area Boardgames Meetup Group Monthly Meetup

Our regular location is now the Fuddruckers Restaurant on the southwest side of Frankford Road and Dallas North Tollway. They've got a large party room that can hold 72 people, a variety of food choices (not only "the world's best hamburgers") and excellent lighting.

Bring family, friends, and any board games that you'd like to play. I have reserved the room for 4 hours of fun!

We will not play any single game for more than 2 hours without unanimous approval of the players. A donation of $1 is requested to cover Meetup's fee. No smoking, gambling or alcoholic beverage is permitted.

Children are welcome provided that their parents bring games or toys to keep them occupied. Older children may play with the adults if no player objects. For more information about the restaurant, see http://www.fuddruckers.com

My ex-husband taught me to play and we would play for hours. But that has been many years ago and I have to say that I have forgotten all that I learned. I would love someone to refresh me on it.

Hello everyone! My name is Maria. I am new to Plano, orignally from New York. I am glad to see that board games are not a dead issue because of internet video games and playstation. I think they are mind-numbing. I grew up playing board games and never waned from the love for them. I have so many that most other people never heard of them...Othello, Mille Bournes, Upwords, Balderdash to name a few. Most people would feel they are boring because the internet games are all the rage now, but actually interacting with someone is better than any computer game.

Board games are great, much more fun & memorable for me than video games. My cousins and I started a monthly family game night based on playing the Wii but now we play board games more often than not. Balderdash is a favorite and I love Othello but it's been years since I played. I have a travel Othello set packed away somewhere that my aunt gave me when I was a kid.

Hey all. Anyone interested in Mahjong, the tile game which inspired the card game Rummy? I have a couple of simpler variants good for beginners.

Not exactly a board game, but fun. I also play yahtzee and connect four, which are similarly lacking in the board department. Hmm.

Plus checkers and chess, the old standbys.

Which M-J variants do you like?

Ever play Yahtzee 10? That is a variant I made up where player rolls 10 dice all at once and chooses 5 to keep. Removesd half the strategy, but also makes games twice as fast, when ya want a quickie our when there are numerous players.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
