Visit Bagienice Farms & Dan Probst

UPDATE: Dan will be offering Fowl Pox vaccinations from 10:15-10:45 a.m. before the tour of his farm at 11 a.m. Bring your birds (in cages) if you'd like to get them vaccinated because Fowl Pox season starts in about one month. Donations are appreciated! Some of you may be new to the group, and others may have missed the last trip to Dan Probst's farm, so we're doing it again.

Join us for a talk and tour of Bagienice Farms in Poetry, Texas, with Dan Probst. He regularly sells tested and certified chickens at North Haven Gardens the third Saturday of each month.

The farm is located in an East Texas greenbelt, a mile off Lake Tawakoni. Specialties of the farm include heritage and specialty breed chickens, ducks, turkeys, and geese. Light refreshments provided. CLICK HERE FOR A MAP! Your GPS may lead you astray.

This was informative. We brought our 14 year old granddaughter and she bought a duck and named him Puddles. He follows her around the yard. It was great!

I had a lovely time. Dan was very informative. I know where I'll be getting my pullets.

Really enjoyed the tour, the yummy tomatoes, and particularly the fantastic kids. Those are some mighty fine progeny, a real credit to the Probst family. I think free-ranging must be good for kids as well as poultry. :-)

Poop on shoes - they'll love it!

Their shoes might get poop on them.

I doubt Dan will butcher any chickens while we're there.

There could be instances of chicken rape, as roosters will often mount hens in front of people, to demonstrate their territorial rights.

If you're cool with that, I expect your kids will have lots of fun.

This will be my first tour, but I will have to bring my kids, 4 and 7. Let me know if this tour might not be appropriate to bring kids with.
