This is a unique Brights activity that you can do at home. It is part of the Outreach Project organized by Fellowship of Freethought for the refugee children coming to our area.
This weekend, kids from all over the Metroplex are making cards to be included in each shoe box of supplies that we make for each individual of the 2000 refugee children coming to North Texas to await their Immigration status. They are in for a long wait, and are separated from their families and parents.
Below is a link so you can print a specially designed card with a comforting message in Spanish. You (your child) can decorate it with stickers and markers. I bet a note from another child in this new place would be a comfort to our 2000 alone and afraid munchkins!
If you are unable to print, you can use plain paper no larger than 9x11, folded in half to make a card. You or your child should print Bienvenido on the front of the card...and then decorate. PLEASE DO NOT USE GLITTER. Bienvenido means "Welcome". As we (caring people all over DFW) are their hosts for the time being, it is appropriate.
Your child can also write a message of their own in English , in hopes that someone will be able to translate it to the recipient. Your child can make several cards if they want to...we have 2000 kids that we want to make feel better. So, the more the better!
Mail them to Roddi Schoneberg over the next week. They should be put in the mail for delivery to me by next Wednesday July 23, no later. This will ensure that they arrive in time for Packing Day (when we make the boxes) on July 26th.
Send them to : r.schoneberg 13532 Purple Sage Dallas, Tx 75240.
Here is the link to print your own card:https://www.dropbox.com/s/um7o2pnh6imzsgb/bienvenido.pdf
Lets have some fun and post a pic of the cards your children make in the comment section. It will be great to show off everyone's creations!
