On Sunday, August 25, 2:00 - 4:00 PM there will be an orientation for the new series of meditation courses offered by the Willpower USA Meditation Center.
The meditation training is based in the Theravada Buddhist Forest Monk tradition and the teachings of Phra Viriyang Sirintharo, Lord Abbot of Wat Dhammamongkol. Phra Viriyang Sirintharo is a 93-year-old Thai Buddhist Monk of the Thai Forest Tradition. The orientation will include some discussion on this particular technique, as well as on the benefits of meditation in general. Luang Phor is held in very high esteem by the Laotian and Thai local Buddhist community; there should be quite an interesting cross section of participants at the orientation.
The series of meditation courses is free and begins every August and goes through January. Graduates are invited to travel to Thailand on a journey that you will never forget.
You can learn more about Phra Viriyang Sirintharo from the BuddhaNet article A Monk's Dream Comes to Life: Phra Viriyang Sirintharo and from Wilkes Alexander's article Nurturing and Nourishment for the Mind that describes his experience with the course and the meditation retreat in Thailand that he attended.
