Join us for A Day of 5Rhythms® & The Feldenkrais Method® with Mati Vargas-Gibson, Certified 5Rhythms® Moving Meditation Teacher, & Angela Alston, GCFP, MFA
"Think of the magic of that foot, comparatively small, upon which your whole weight rests. It's a miracle, & the dance... is a celebration of that miracle."— Martha Graham
Our feet connect us to the Earth; our place of origin and return. Yet we spend much of our time without moving them, and when we walk or dance, we notice that our feet and ankles are unresponsive or that they seem very far or disconnected from the rest of our body.
Come for a day-long exploration to rediscover and enliven the movement of your feet, through the wisdom of two extraordinary body awareness disciplines: The Feldenkrais Method® and 5Rhythms® Moving Meditation.
Registration: $85. Register on Mati's website.
Limit: 20. Room for 6 more as 4/9.
Through Feldenkrais we will explore the basic structure of our feet and their connection to the skeleton, increasing our consciousness of how they work and discovering how to mobilize them for power, groundedness, and efficiency.
With 5Rhythms® we will move beyond freestyle dancing to encounter our shamanic feet—feet that listen to the earth and are moved by her song. We will become aware of our feet as the the gateway of the Rhythm of Flowing: the gateway into the art of being free and fluid in our bodies.
As we listen-in, learn, and reconnect with our feet, we will awaken towards instinctive steps that arise from a rooted and grounded awareness... tapped into the beat of something solid and rooted from where we can find refuge to explore freedom and the fluidity of being alive.
Feldenkrais approaches movement and learning based on biomechanics, neuroscience & physiology. 5Rhythms is a dynamic movement meditation practice that teaches us that life is energy in motion and initiates us back into the wisdom of our bodies, unleashing healing power, spontaneity, and creativity.
WHAT YOU NEED
No Feldenkrais or 5Rhythms experience necessary. We do ask that you are comfortable lying on your stomach, back, and side. Wear comfortable, loose, layered clothing. Bring a blanket or yoga mat, cushion, journal and water bottle.
