Introduction to Meditation

Every second Thursday of the month, we offer this introductory session. If you are new to  meditation or if you'd like to brush up on your technique, please join us!

This class will introduce the posture, breathing, and technique for Shambhala meditation. Both chair and cushion technique will be covered. You'll have the chance to try a short meditation session and ask questions. The class will end with a talk about the benefits of meditation and how you can develop a regular sitting practice at home.

  • 45-minute meditation instruction and questions
  • 15-minute tea
  • 45-minute dharma talk and discussion

More about Shambhala

It is the Shambhala view that every human being has a fundamental nature of goodness, warmth and intelligence. This nature can be cultivated through meditation, following ancient principles, and it can be further developed in daily life, so that it radiates out to family, friends, community and society.

Shambhala is a global community. There are more than 170 centers and groups around the world, as well as thousands of individual members. Shambhala Meditation Centers offer courses in meditation and other contemplative arts and disciplines, and also host community gatherings, celebrations, and family events.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
