Rocket Stove Demo: DIY, Energy-Efficient for Homesteader, Emergencies, Cooking

A rocket stove is a super-efficient cooking stove, space heater, & water heater that also makes a relative inexpensive DIY project. Permaculturist Jerry Sledge demos a stove he designed & built to use twigs and other small-diameter wood that burns in a simple high-temperature combustion chamber.

The rocket stove uses a unique design to operate on about half as much fuel as a traditional wood fire. It also transfers much of the heat from the flue gases into thermal energy storage. Use it for everything from heating your greenhouse to cooking and heating your home during a power outage. It is a wonderful Homestead project.

Cook on top of the stove or in an oven. I have even seen pizza cooked in a rocket stove.

The demonstration will be at the west end of the Greenville Farmer’s market during market hours. Come early to chat with Jerry and shop the only truly local farmers market in this area with NO reselling allowed. Free.

Wish you could come. I have seen Jerry demo this and it is well worth your time--he is a very clever do-it-yourselfer! Terry

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
