FREE Introduction into Permaculture in July / Meet and Greet

A one and a half hour presentation by Nicholas (Nick) Burtner will be given followed by an urban permaculture / backyard food forest tour (in the making). A very positive and open discussion pretty much about anything related will follow. Once completed you can obtain an Introduction into Permaculture certificate that states you have completed an Intro in Permaculture and can be used for continuing education as well. The location is at a Plano, TX residence with a backyard full of permaculture goodies including: rain water harvesting, gray water bed filtration and use, urban food forestry, serious composting, strategic permaculture gardening and more.

About Nicholas Burtner:

After being diagnosed with the permaculture bug in late 2011, Nick went terminal and couldn't help but to learn, practice, and teach permaculture wherever he went. He has attended internships at the Permaculture Research Institute of Australia, obtained a permaculture design certification from Geoff Lawton and Bill Mollison, and has attended the Earthship Academy for natural and recycled building techniques in Toas, NM. Nick now calls North Texas his home and has opened a school named Working With Nature Learning, Research, and Healing Center. He is working towards a harmonious relationship with anyone who is serious about earth care, people care and anyone who truly wants to change their lives and live free.

Great news - We are expecting a full house! If there are not any seats or not enough standing room, then please know there will be another one of these in August. I would recommend to stay anyhow, even if it is a packed house, and get to know one another for networking and idea sharing. Looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing valuable information!

I enjoyed learning about a food forest and much more. Would love to see a variant begin to occupy the endless parkway strips between sidewalks and streets. I enjoyed the company of like-minded folk.

Will there be useful information shared at this meeting or is it just a teaser to entice me to take the $1200 course?

    • Nicholas B.

Great question Michael - Although I will speak a little on upcoming courses - it is not the main focus of this meetup. Read the comments on this link below from a past intro and use your best judgment if you will gain any useful information. Hope I get to meet you!

Hi Everyone - The last few of these we did we had a full house and expect the same this time around. It is recommended to bring a small stool or chair if you have one as we often run out of seating. We will put a throw on the floor after the couches are filled. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

I have been installing solar and wind power systems since 1999. Mainly off grid systems for people wanting to live way out in away from the city. Most are dooms day preppers. You can see some pics at Dallas Alternative Meetup Group at http://www.meetup.com/alternativeenergy-153/photos/126202/

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
