FULL CLASS Natural Building! Cob, Strawbale, Rammed Earth, CEB, Adobe: $30 Fee

CLASS IS FULL

Some are more earth healthy than others but all are MORE EARTH HEALTHY and/or MORE PEOPLE HEALTHY than wood, concrete, styrofoam, plastic….. So lets learn how to use the good stuff in a Natural Building Seminar by Shalagram Das.

We should also have our newly acquired Compressed Earth Block machine available for demonstrating that day. The machine is in Greenville now! We just need to get dirt some good North Texas clay that is dry enough to use in the machine.

This seminar is part of the “Sustainable Living with Permaculture” class but again, the public is invited to learn with us at our Natural Building Seminar.

Cost of the seminar is $30. Due to the size of the Permaculture class, we have limited space for outsiders, so please sign up soon.

The payment for the class goes directly to the instructor. Again, you must pay in advance because we can not collect money at this location.

December 14, 2013, from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm. Location in Greenville, TX will be sent to you with payment.

More information about this and other off-grid, sustainable living, and Permaculture matters can be found at http://facebook.com/dfwecovillage/

Agree with Melanie. Can we hear a bit more about what this talk will look like?

Bob: I don't know. I heard the CEB Seminars and it seemed he crammed as much into it as possible. It is all lecture except (in this instance) is a firing up of the CEB machine if we can get dirt dry enough or a showing of an actual machine even if we can't get the dirt. It will cover building with adobe, CEB, rammed earth, strawbale, and cob. Starting with a good, simple foundation and how to do it yourself (that should work for all of this although I am not certain about strawbale) he went all the way up to the roof and then covered natural plastering and floors. I have taken a 3-day course in CEB in San Antonio and he came close to covering what I learned in the lecture part of that course but not the hands on experience for CEB alone. The truth is that it is almost full now as it is actually part of our Permaculture class. Wish I could tell you more but I would be guessing.

Awesome! I'm wonder what part of natural building this seminar will cover such as the ins & outs of design, how to build with each of those materials, how local climate affects design & material, cost of each etc. my husband and i are very interested in this subject but are on a budget. we'd like to sign up if this is what we're looking for.

Although some of these subjects overlap for many forms, and some for all forms, of natural building (like the very simple aggregate foundation), it is too large a subject to cover all of the above for every type of building in a one-day seminar. The climate part is easy, though. Except for strawbale, they all perform well here and strawbale can perform well if the builder is very, very careful and the owner is very careful to maintain the building and to keep it dry. Earth buildings in general, though, do breaths and are very durable, All our enduring ancient building are earth. Terry
