Alternative ways to cool down houses and cars in the summer in Dallas... we need to get away from the compression/evaporation cycle... Passive heating in winter months, as well as heating water... Wind energy... Food storage and preservation without refrigeration ... Growing food.
I'm new to growing things in Dallas... whatever foods are easiest (but NOT okra!)... and some herbs, such as basil. I have a water reclaimation system I built, so I have plenty of water to work with. I just need the knowledge of growing plants in Dallas now...
Very much.. I have thought about this for much of my life, and am actually doing things this year to one day get completely off the utility grids... already I may be off the natural gas grid, and could go off the water grid if it were legal to do so in Allen. I am 50% off the electricity grid now compared with last year at this time, and have plans to cut my present electricity consumption down by half next year at this time.
I've been converting my house to alternative energy and putting together a gardening plan this year, and am making youtubes of my designs. So far, I stopped using my hot water heater and electric stove 3 months ago. Will be off grid someday! : )
Hold my opinion for now...
