Lake Mineral Wells State Park

Lake Mineral Wells State Park has a system of 16 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails. I have never hiked there but the trails are described as traversing rolling to hilly terrain dissected by deep canyons, creeks, and upland woods. We will try to focus mostly on the trails dedicated to hiking so we can avoid horses and bikes as much as possible. We will probably hike about 8-10 miles.

Hike will start at noon at the trailhead located just north of the Cross Timbers Camping Area.

The State Park is located 15 miles west of Weatherford or 4 miles east of Mineral Wells on US Hwy 180. Call Deborah at[masked] or Greg at[masked] if you can’t find us.

Rex can't do another pre-Christmas city lights hike, but gave me a link to the route map. There's not much time left before Christmas. How about the 14th? Does that work for you Duman to set up dinner at a Nepalese restaurant?

Fridays are too hard for people because of rush hour traffic. I am going to post one for the 22nd. That is the Saturday before Christmas. We will eat downtown. Hope that is not to close to Christmas for you. I will have it on the calendar soon.

Nice 6.6 mile hike or was it 6.7? Some hills, rocks, and flat areas. Hot for a December day.

Not sure of the distance but what about those snakes.

You mean the snakes that chased you, then climbed trees so they could drop on you as you walked by??

Lake is beautiful. There was a bit of diversity on the trail- a rocky, hilly area and some other hills. It was nice and quiet (no road noise!) and long trails for good hiking distance.
