The Dallas Yi Jing (I Ching) Meetup - Nuclear Hexagram 53 (Gradual Progress)

The Dallas Yi Jing (I Ching) Meetup gets together once a month, usually on the fourth Saturday of each month.

Saturday, April 27, 2013: We continue our discussion of how the hexagrams relate to the nuclear hexagrams.

This month we will study the four hexagrams that have Hexagram 53 (Development; Gradual Progress) as their nuclear hexagram:

Hexagram 53 漸 (jiàn) Development; Gradual Progress

Hexagram 12 否 (pǐ) Obstruction; Standstill

Hexagram 17 隨 (suí) Following

Hexagram 25 無妄 (wú wàng) Innocence; The Unexpected

Hexagram 45 萃 (cuì) Gathering Together

See the discussion on Nuclear Hexagrams for details.

Our meetings begin with a light lunch, and then we study together one of the sixty-four Yi Jing hexagrams in detail, or study two or more related hexagrams. The lunch is often a potluck lunch at a member's home, but sometimes we decide to meet at a local tea house or restaurant. Please refer to the meeting announcement for more specific details about the meeting for that month.

No prior knowledge of the Yi Jing (I Ching) is required. Our members have different levels of experience and different approaches. We welcome all who would like to attend.

Those people that have translations of the Yi Jing are encouraged to bring their translations to the meeting. A portion of the meeting usually includes a comparison of the different translations. Extra copies of English translations of the Yi Jing are available for those that do not have a translation.

Our meetings usually last 2+ hours, but people are free to leave the meeting whenever they need to go.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact our organizers.

It was nice visiting the Yi Jing group again and I had a wonderful time. I most certainly enjoyed the hospitality and lunch offered by our hostess, Azi. I will certainly re-visit this school of philosophy. I love how it offers advice on how to be a better person.

Recently picked up the Thomas Cleary translation and this has sparked my interest in Yi Jing. Hope to see you there :)
