I am very happy to announce the next dance workshop I will be giving on 17 August.
Taking the oriental dance technique as a base we are going to dance to Lenny Kravitz, Sade and Massive Attack, and to fusion of western and eastern music.
The class is for beginners. It will be very structured: you are going to learn about the theory first, then we will focus on the fundamental isolations in oriental dance: with hips, chest, shoulders, stomach. We will then combine some of these into fluid movements: the figure 8's and circles. In the end we will enjoy a simple choreography.
The class is going to be at Arthur Murray Dance Center, Zurich: a very elegant place. It will start at 2:00 pm, will last one hour, will be in English and for free.
What to wear?
Bring comfortable clothes. I recommend tights. This way you (and I) can see how your knees are moving (very important!). Also this would help you to bring out your sensuality more easily.
I usually dance with my socks, so you can use socks or if you have, you can bring your flexible dance shoes.
Who am I?
I am from Turkey, living in Zurich for five years and working as a PhD student now at the University of Zurich, Physics. I have been taking oriental dance classes from Zeot (zeot.ch) in the last three years. Still continuing the classes, now I am also starting to teach. Before officially setting up the classes, you can enjoy my free classes and see if this is for you or not.
