"Because there is no one right way... to dance, or to live."
DanceJam is an all-ages, alcohol-free dance event in San Diego that meets every Friday night from 9pm-midnite. And there is usually a dance class that starts at 8pm. We dance to a wide variety of music that a live DJ spins for us (including world beat, classics, fusion, trance, house, etc.).
DanceJam was started almost twenty years ago. Our community has been growing strong ever since. Our mission is to provide an open space where you can bring your authentic body out into the open, and simply move. You are welcome to come meet and dance with others or, you can simply come and do your own thing.
The weekly barefoot boogie is preceded by an hour class, from 8-9pm. Usually, this is a Contact Dance Improvisation class. On the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month, there is an improvisational jam that includes live musical accompaniment. This is a great way to become familiar with improvisation.
