You've joined Bend Dance... Now get your bootie on the floor and have some fun with us!
West Coast Swing is a smooth newish version of Swing that's popular and growing in Bend. It's not big band or country and it's done to normal radio music...Top 40, Blues, Hip Hop... a huge variety of music. There's a lot of technique, which creates a dance about connecting with your partner and playing with the music, rather than memorizing a bunch of steps.
PRE-REGISTRATION DIRECTLY WITH VICTORIA IS REQUIRED. A new session starts next Thursday, Nov 1 at 6:00pm. 4 weeks, $40 (no class Thanksgiving, of course), and you should be able to come to all 4 classes through the end of November as we will have an even number of men and women in classes. It's fun and social, we rotate partners and you get to meet everyone - which means we're inter-dependent. A new session will start again December 6. Classes are at my home studio in SW Bend, off Brookswood and you'll get the secret location when you register with me, not just on meetup. :-)
Thurs 6:00 || Beginning WCS
Intro to West Coast Swing and the technique concepts that make this dance stretchy and connected. Class is taught as if you've never danced before but those with other dance experience will learn what makes this dance so unique.
Thurs 7:15 || Beginning Plus WCS
It gets a lot more fun in this class now that the basics have sunken in. More technique and styling so you feel stretchy and smooth with every partner you dance with. We'll add more simple moves and create variations.
Thurs 8:30 || Level 2 WCS
Woohoo! Now you're hooked and ready for more complexity, more musicality and play with your partner.
There's also a Level 3 class and an Adv Hardcore Musicality class on Tuesday nights. Beginning Salsa is Tuesday at 6:00pm in November, starting Nov 6.
If you need encouragement, give me a call! Anyone can do this. Promise. Many people start (or continue) with private lessons ($45/hour) to get comfortable before starting a group class. Two left feet are perfectly acceptable.
