Buddy Valdez is a San Francisco native currently living and dancing professionally in New York City. He formally trained at the San Francisco School of the Arts, the San Francisco Academy of Ballet, and The Juilliard School in NYC. Aside from classical, contemporary, and modern dance Buddy is passionate about all forms of latin social dance. His love for the 80's lambada dates back to his childhood. In 2009, he happened upon a bar in NYC where a small group of people were dancing Lambazouk. Since then he has trained with some of the world's leading Lambazouk pioneers including: Braz Dos Santos, Mari Hodges, & Pablo Schmoller.

Zouk Lambada or sometimes simply, Brazilian Zouk, started in Brazil as a fresh new approach to the old Lambada dance of the 80′s. The dance is unique in both its sexy hip movements and the girls being led to graceful, beautiful and intricate head movements. Zouk-Lambada combines both the sexy and sensual Lambada steps with the beats of the Carribean and Angola’s Zouk and Kizomba Music .

Zouk Lambada came all the way from Bahia, Brazil and and is now filling dance-floors across the world! I would like to welcome you to Zouk Lambada classes in SF at City Dance Studios! Whether you're new to Zouk Lambada or if you're a veteran and would like to brush up on your moves/practice I welcome you to come and check this out!

Kizomba is one of the most popular genres of dance and music originating from Angola. It is a derivative of semba, with a mix of Kilapanda and Angolan Merengue and sung generally in Portuguese. It is music with a romantic flow. It was the Kimbundu name for a dance in Angola as early as 1894. The kizomba dancing style is also known to be very sensual.
