Class Descriptions:
11 am The Feeling, Shape, and Movement of the Pulse (for Jookin') Part 1- This all-levels class will touch on vocabulary, musicality, and isolation technique but primarily focuses on using the aesthetic of pulse and how to change it's feeling, shape, and movement in your dance. This class is designed to make you think about your dancing starting with a simple base movement and adding "variants/elements" to change its expression.

12:10 pm The Feeling, Shape, and Movement of the Pulse (for Jookin') Part 2 - Take the concepts and vocabulary of Part 1 and incorporate moves!

1:20 pm The Hound Dog Solo Blues Routine - Dexter's got a brand new bag and it's full of hips, swagger, and cool! Incorporating blues movement vocabulary as well as some personal blues stylings, you'll learn a choreographed routine inspired by this 1952 twelve-bar blues hit by Big Mama Thornton. Put on your cool hats and get ready to wag your tail!

2:30 pm Asymmetry in Blues - Change the look of your dance with asymmetry! One of the aesthetics of blues dancing can be found in its asymmetry, giving the dance a dynamic and athletic look and feel. We'll apply the segmentation of body parts and angularity while examining how we balance asymmetry in our movement. We'll get you thinking in new ways with solo and partnered exercises using "quadrants" to create your movements and see how dynamic your dancing can get!

3:40 pm Ballrooming Blues – Learn one of the vintage Blues dances! We’ll touch on vocabulary, musicality, and isolation technique but primarily focus on using the aesthetic of pulse and how to change it's feeling, shape, and movement in your dance. This class is designed to make you think about your dancing starting with a simple base movement and adding "variants/elements" to change its expression.

My wife and I had a blast and felt like we left the instruction with enough knowledge to enjoy going out to dance.
