Hi Kurt, I am not coming tonite, hopefully I will be able to catch some during the summer. I want to wish you much luck for the first ever inaugural meet up you are hosting, good luck and rock on!

Hi Elli. Unfortunately, there is a limited amount of space and we can just fit 12 people. I think we have to stick to this constraint, otherwise it will be too tight. Also, it won't be fair to those on the waiting list if we allow people to show up who were not able to sign up. We'll have plenty more of these and, now that you've joined, you'll be notified of the next one - which I expect will be soon.

    Best regards,

    Kurt

That flies with me!! I may need to use on on one of my songs too. I'm envisioning this first one as pretty much flying by the seat of our pants as we go "Free Fallin'" into it. We'll create some order, but work out any kinks on the fly.

    May 13

  • Brian T.

If I was to bring a song requiring a Capo would that fly with everyone? I was thinking In Your Eyes - Peter Gabriel, which I play/sing with a capo on the 5th fret. I'll post it just in case. Let me know if that doesn't work! Also I'm going to post Free Fallin' by Tom Petty. Really looking forward to this!

I'm not signed up for this time but I just wanted to introduce myself and tell you how much I look forward to joining you all at a future date. I love to play guitar and sing, and this sounds like a lot of fun. Thank you, Kurt, for organizing this group. I never made it to the Greenwich meet up but I heard it was getting impossible to get in. I have renewed hope that I can meet some of you and play a little now.

Hi folks! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone. This is my first time organizing, so I'm going to steal some practices from the Greenwich Acoustic Music Circle. I hope this will be informal, but somewhat organized. To that end, if you can post or reference songs you would like to play/sing, please do so as far in advance of the meetup as possible. Once we get to know each other better and get a feel for how this will work, my guess is that this will take on a life of its own and be a ton of fun. As we go along, suggestions are welcome. I'll provide some food, beer and wine for this one and see how that goes. For the 15th, I plan to play and sing Heroes, by David Bowie (he does a great live acoustic version, which is on YouTube). I'd also like to play Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, by Bob Dylan, but would like someone else to sing it (Andrea? Check out the Linda Ronstadt version). When (if) I figure out how to post chords and lyrics, I will do so. Looking forward to the 15th. Best,

    Kurt

Just wondering, my interests are Folk, Ballads, Old Blues, Bluegrass, and Old Time. In that order more or less. Anybody else have these interests?

I wanted to post just to say that I think this is a great Meetup idea, that I host 2 groups (a standard jazz and a gypsy jazz group) myself in my home (not through Meetup though), but I wish that the Meetup system had allowed us to see at least the city/state of the Meetup before one joins it. I live in NY, way too far to participate in a Darien, CT group. Too bad though, but good luck with the project.

I will post a few songs, "Pancho and Lefty" if you'll let me sing them. "City of New Orleans", also "Someday Soon" , "Hobo's Lullaby" and some others.

  • Bill J.

I will see what I can find by Hank and Bob Wills and maybe a little bluegrass stuff.

I'd like to play into the Mystic (Van Morrison) http://www.e-chords.com/chords/... and Bell Bottom Blues (Derek & the Dominoes) http://www.e-chords.com/chords/... See you on the 15th. Frank

Hi Kurt! Looking forward to meeting everyone and hearing you play. The month of May is crazy busy with my business and personal (weddings, graduations, gigs, etc), but I look forward to joining you in the near future. Thank you for starting this Meetup!

Hi Kurt, I'm excited as I haven't been able to make any of the Greenwich Acoustic circles yet as they've been filling up so fast.
