MINI-INTENSIVE: Photographic Vision/Photographic Voice

Join a small group of devoted photographers who are shooting intuitively, confidently, but who are wishing to pull it all together and onto the next level.  What does your work mean to you?  Do you know what it means to others?  How do you talk about it?  Where do you go with it?  What are others seeing, that perhaps you’re missing, and that may help to bring your photography purpose. Are you practicing photography in a way that best supports your purpose?  Perhaps you have a body of work that you’re ready to stand behind, but that needs cultivating, new directions, definition.  You may have a specific goal in mind for your work, and are looking for ways to achieve that goal.  Whatever your intent, your unique Vision/Voice is the foundation.  It's time to claim it!

For those who have taken the “Recognizing Your Vision, Establishing Your Voice” workshop, the foundations of our processes will be familiar, and this is your chance to recall, acknowledge, reinforce, and refine both the processes and your work.  If you are unfamiliar with this workshop, you will benefit by learning new tools with a group who is similarly assured in their work, and ready to run with it.

This is a three hour intensive, combining lecture, in-class exercises, discussion, “critique”, and “map-making.”  We will break only briefly to organize our lunches (bring your own, or pop next door to purchase).  We will work through lunch.

$55 fee. Workshop minimum participants, 6.  Maximum 10.  Once registered, directions for preparation will be emailed to you, as well as a coupon for a 30% discount for a private portfolio review.  Two private review slots are available the morning of the 30th:  8:30am and 9:30am.  If you would like to take advantage of that discount, perhaps this would be the time - email Polly if you're interested.

Make a day of it!  The Illumine reception begins at 3:30.  This is a striking collection juried by Robert Hirsch, worth your in-depth and in-person review.  Since you’ll be in-house, let’s look together!

Polly Raine will be leading this workshop. Take a look at the comments from a prior iteration's attendees: http://www.meetup.com/DarkroomGallery/events/71231712/ With a Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts and twenty years of combined experience in design and styling across fashion, fine arts, performance arts, special events, retail, interiors, graphics, advertising and publishing industries, Polly is the well-equipped to help you establish your unique photographic style. Once again, Polly has opened our minds to new fields. Thanks to all the Meetup mates from whom we reaped a fine harvest. We each experienced the great photography of the others including many comments from all. Polly had the last words for each person with her critiques. This was a fine meeting. Thank you.

Although it would have been wonderful if the class was longer, what we did accomplish in this mini-intensive was impressive, useful and inspiring. The handouts help to fill in the gaps and Polly's insights are always appreciated.

I would love to do this but I work until noon. If you adjust the time please let me know. Or if a Penny will be running a workshop at another location and time I'd love to know about it!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
