This is your opportunity to learn several of the processes in recognizing your unique vision, and establishing and communicating your photographic voice. Your photographic voice, or style, is based on recognizable commonalities. These commonalities are more than just your preferred subject matter, and in fact subject matter may not be a commonality at all. We will explore how to perceive and strengthen (or create) those commonalities in your work, and ultimately how to set your work apart from that of others.
Recognizing Your Vision: How do you see, photographically? Have you located an authentic vision? Learn to seek out, identify and clarify the threads. Your goal is to communicate your photographic passions with consistency, by understanding and claiming your intent, creating a language to describe your vision, and steering your working processes toward that vision.
Establishing Your Voice: Evolve, strengthen, and refine your vision into a photographic style. When you are able to intuitively integrate your vision into the execution and presentation of the final product - your images become naturally infused with a personal style. Learn tools to advance your work to be reflective of You.
Whereas this workshop has included a share/critique component in the past, this session will be made of lecture and in-class exercises only. It's a big topic - let's take away all that we can in a short 3 hours (including plenty of handouts to work with post-meetup) . The schedule will include time for break, snacking, and re-grouping.
Also offered the afternoon of the 24th, are scheduled 1/2 hour slots for private review/questions/discussion. Contact Polly for more details and to set up a personalized and in-depth "critique". This is an opportunity to discuss next steps on a tailored-to-you path.
You'll find previous comments on Polly's workshops through past meet-up commentary. As well, get a sense of her approach by visiting the Darkroom Gallery's YouTube channel. Here is the link to one of those videos:
