Re: [DarwinsTavern] Evolution bumper sticker...

It is thinking that pulls me away from religion. There are two creation stories in the Bible that contradict each other. As a thinking person I see this and many other holes. People say, “If its in the Bible, I believe it!” Then which do you see as absolute fact? That God created Man and woman at the same time? Or that God created man first, and then woman, and women are thus inferior and should be treated as second class citizens? If the Bible is the unadulterated word of God and must be followed to the letter, then equal rights for women is out.

I also cannot connect as to how an execution of a minor criminal, who wasn’t guilty, in a backwater of the world, late in human history, absolved me of sins.

Your statement about right or wrong being determined by cause and effect, doesn’t necessarily mean there is a god. If it hurts people, it is wrong.

Right and wrong is determined by cause and effect.
Right advances the person or situation in a positive helpful way, and wrong does not.
It is actually very simple, when you think about it.
The key of course is thinking.

My uncle sent me a pic of a bumper sticker he saw this morning:

"If evolution is just a theory, religion is just an opinion."
