Spatial Data Management: An Introduction To Theory & Practice

Spatial data has a number of idiosyncrasies. These need to be understood, and tools capable of dealing with them are required for any system to manage spatial data and support spatial queries. This used to be the domain of GIS systems, but increasingly RDBMS tools & even NoSQL databases are providing highly functional support for spatial data management.

In this talk Brent Wood from NIWA (http://www.niwa.co.nz/), The New Zealand Open Source Society (http://nzoss.org.nz/) and The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (http://www.osgeo.org/) will present a practitioners guide to knowing where things are.

Doors open 5:30pm for a 6:00pm start, should be finished by 8:00pm.
Beer and Pizza provided.
