Machine Learning with Regression Methods and Predictive Modeling

In this workshop we tackle basic regression methods including simple, functional , kernel and loess regression. By the end of this workshop students will be able to apply their knowledge to model economic and political trends as well as in other fields.

A basic familiarity with R is assumed.

The workshop will be accessible to all; however, some topics will involve higher level mathematics.

spotted this related article on data scientist central (out of interest, how many in this group use DSC as a resource?)

I'm not familiar with DSC but looks like they are on offshoot of analyticbridge, which does an good job connecting quantitative people.
Vincent, makes some interesting points in the link. A number of the regression techniques extend basic linear regression, whereas others such as logic and logistic better fit in the classification domain.
      Thanks for sharing!

Great slides and organization! Thank you. Hope we can get more labs in, too :)

Terrific! No time for workthrough examples with all that content - labs might be fun, slides a must no matter what.

Due to some factors, I didn't attend the meeting. Where can I download the slides or some other materials of the lecture?

Are there materials (e.g., code or slides) on git that we should have prior? If i remember correctly there is not wifi in Duques

No materials prior to the class are required, we will be distributing the slides after the lecture. We also arranged for internet access . Looking forward to seeing you in class!
