Please tell us about yourself (brevity is a virtue).

I am a data cartographer interested in health justice issues. I recently worked on a mapping tool for the former Baltimore health commissioner to map the "uninsured working class" of Baltimoreans, who are the target population of his new health cooperative. Since then, I have been working on other civic hacking projects, applying for microgrants to keep them self-sustaining, and am looking to explore the potentials of the field. I am extremely interested in analytics to measure social impact and in investigating ways to make healthcare more accessible and affordable.

Why do you want to join?

I am interested in learning more about how others use data. Much of what I know is self-contained and self-taught, and I would love to expand my data toolkit and learn from others engaged with data in different ways. I think DC has a dynamic data community that understands its potential and isn't afraid to investigate its possibilities.

What type of data do you work with?

I have mostly worked with Census data for my mapping projects.

What is your first name? (we need this due to the security requirements of the space where we hold events)

Hi I'm currently situated in Baltimore and interested in quantifying the social impact of businesses and projects, especially those involved in improving community health outcomes.
