We are happy to host Nathan Marz for a Big Data Week special presentation!
Storm (open-sourced by Twitter in September of 2011) makes it easy to process millions of messages per second with a small cluster. Nathan will introduce Storm and show how easy it is to use for realtime computation.
Nathan created Storm (a tool to process big data streams) and Cascalog (a replacement for tools like Pig or Hive). Nathan was the Lead Engineer at BackType before BackType was acquired by Twitter. At Twitter, he started the streaming compute team which provides infrastructure that supports many critical applications throughout the company. He recently left Twitter to start his own company. He's working on a book called Big Data: principles and best practices of scalable realtime data systems, the early access edition is available here.
