My current quantitative position utilized machine learning techniques (both supervised and unsupervised) in the national security space for a US government agency.
I have traditionally relied on R, STATA, and SAS for my analytical work and have recently been using WEKA as well. For data cleaning I rely on STATA and excel, and use Oracle TOAD & SQL Developer for database work.
I hope to meet and network with similar professionals working on predictive analytics and data mining in DC as well as attend any meetings on topics I'm interested in.
My name is Alexander Parets and I am a quantitative consultant in the DC-area. My background is in quantitative political science with specialties in time series econometrics, linear regression, & random forest, and more recently, machine learning.
