I have an MS in Chemistry and an MBA in finance/econometrics. Most of my work since has been in chemistry (including statistical analysis of scientific data), analysis of and audits to U.S. regulatory requirements for nuclear safeguards, and managing projects to improve safeguards and security. I do not have experience in machine learning or data mining.
None currently. When I worked in the lab, I used to use SAS and Fortran.
Two answers - I think the new capabilities emerging through data science are going to change our world, and I want to understand that change; from the perspective of my current job, I am interested in developing/improving quantitative methods for measuring safeguards performance (e.g., quickly identifying anomalies in nuclear material inventory data).
Interested in learning more about data science.
