What is your level of experience with Statistics, Predictive Analytics, Machine Learning and/or Data Mining?

I have a PhD in Computer Science, originally with a focus on Computer Vision, but have mainly focused on machine learning since then. I am familiar with machine learning on the research and user level and always like to learn more about it.

What tools and technologies do you use?

I do most of my analysis in Python and C++, but also Matlab (or Octave) and R for some problems.

What do you hope to get out of this group?

Learn more about how other people use data science for their problems and be exposed to new approaches and ideas in this space.

I am working for Comcast here in DC in their Meta-data and search research group. We are working towards making Comcast's assets easier to browse, search and enjoy using machine learning and big data tools.
