T. Rowe Price invests significant resources into marketing and advertising. However how can we take the advertising budget and make it more efficient across all advertising channels e.g., TV, magazines, digital? How does changing economic environment impact our advertising effectiveness? And how can we take advantage of seasonality, consumer behavior, and competitive factors to increase advertising effectiveness?
Data Science Applications in Finance
Data and statistical analysis is widely used in finance. This is especially true in investments where the data is used to value and make buy/sell decisions on specific securities. The talk will highlight some real world examples to highlight some of these investment applications.
Anna Onishi, CFA, is an expert in multi-channel intelligence and marketing strategy. Ms. Onishi has extensive experience managing award-winning marketing and analytical work streams for companies including General Motors, AT&T, Procter & Gamble, Bayer, and Liberty Mutual Insurance. She is currently a Vice President at T. Rowe Price. Her work has included creating and implementing multi-channel analytical foundations for marketing and sales, advising senior management on exploring new business ventures, developing and implementing corporate strategy for sales growth and profitability, operational efficiency, and brand health. In addition she previously serves on an advisory board to Adobe. Prior to her career in advertising, Ms. Onishi was a bond analyst at Fidelity Investments conducting in-depth research for over $80 billion USD in portfolio holdings. She also worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston where she published an article on global trade.
Martin Lee is the Director of Quantitative Research in the Fixed Income Division of T. Rowe Price, as well as a member of the Fixed Income Steering Committee. Mr. Lee manages a team of 22 quantitative and investment analysts. Mr. Lee has 22 years of investment experience, six of which have been at T. Rowe Price. Prior to joining the firm in 2007, he was a principal at Investcorp, a hedge fund group, where he specialized in asset allocation and quantitative research. His prior experience includes seven years at Citigroup Asset Management, where he was the director of Fixed Income Quantitative Research. Prior to Citigroup, he held quantitative research positions at Goldman Sachs and Fischer, Francis, Trees & Watts. Mr. Lee earned a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California-Berkeley, an M.S. in electrical engineering from the California Institute of Technology, and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
