Implementation and automation of Data Vault using SSIS

Data Warehouses fail without a decent data model, and as open development environments ETL software offers little help in providing a fast and effective means for delivering a design for a Third Normal Form or Data Vault Enterprise Data Warehouse. You need a solid data modelling approach, software and skills to be able to design a platform like this. Does this feel like custom development???

Nowadays Data Warehouse automation options are emerging and this will take the Data Warehouse to the next level. Inmon and Linstedt have written the rules, now let the Data Warehouse automation take over!

During the previous session, the introduction to Data Vault, we didn't have time to perform even a brief demonstration of the practical side of working with a Data Vault model; how the templates are leveraging the Data Vault message.

In this presentation we will work through the various (ETL) templates to load the Hub, Link, Satellite (and more) entities using Microsoft SSIS. The templates themselves are applicable to any ETL platform but SSIS has some very powerful automation capabilities that allow us to generate the entire Data Warehouse end-to-end.

The presentation will cover:

- Brief recap of the Data Vault modelling technique(s)
- Explanation of the common loading templates (Hubs, Links, Satellites, End Dating)
- Concepts of ETL automation
- Automating development using the templates using SSIS

The demonstration will explain how this works by generation a full end-to-end Data Warehouse application in under 2 hours!
