October meeting

Hi all, we have a the meetup date for October fixed by C-Base. The last time we where around a big table, and it was an opportunity to talk and discuss about some practical examples, at least for who brought a laptop. I personally discovered several interesting projects by Ramiro Gomes http://ramiro.org/.

The last time we were also not too many, because i notified you the date with a really little notice time. Depending on the numbers this time, we may need to ask C-Base for more space or to find a different venue. Anywhere i would like to keep the same informal atmosphere, with the possibility for anyone to talk or to actually work together for some hours on his projects with new people. Any feedback is, as always, appreciated.

There is also the possibility to present your project, ideas, your favourite vis or even your questions on a bigger screen, so you can just propose your topic to the group, here, and i will make sure to have audio and video available from C-Base.

And that's all folks, see you in a couple of weeks!

Nice one... Thanks to everyone for taking some time to listen to my presentation; I hope that it provoked some interesting thoughts and ideas. I'm glad to have made some new contacts with some clever, active and nice people.

Thanks to you Scott. Who knows, maybe one day we will ask to organise an event in the Baumhaus! About implementing sentient, reactive technologies, or experimenting with the immersive environment, i would say that the most relevant technology is arduino (http://www.arduino.cc...) or something equivalent. I saw it used with processing (http://processing.org...) sometimes, but i'm not an expert. I can't find any meetup about arduino here, and about processing there is mainly this https://www.facebook.c... hosted here http://leapknecht.de/ and referred also here http://www.onformativ.... I'm not sure, but you may be interested to get in touch with those people, also. See you!

Francesco, thank you again for taking the time to search for leads and send links. That's a very generous and helpful thing to do; this is what I really love about Berlin, it's great people helping each other out! Your group will definitely be welcome to have events at the Baumhaus. I will forward your message to members of our meet-up group. We are even having a general meeting for new and old collaborators plus a party afterwards this Friday. You and other members are more than welcome to join in the fun. -Peace- Scott http://www.meetup.com...

Well, thanks all of you for being there! A request for Marian and the people from Journalism++, could you paste some links to the projects you showed us?

Hi Francesco, thanks for your interest in my work. The plan is to release this at some point soon, but i don't have it ready at the moment. Yes, i am on twitter: https://twitter.com/nr... and my personal website has a few other projects i worked on over the years: http://mariandoerk.de...

Hey, a lot of interesting stuff in your website! And you were at IEEE VIS 13, you should tell us something! :D Thanks so far, see you!

About the project from J++, i found the link in a tweet https://t.co/uHIGGAGY9... too bad there is no demo to play with, i wanted to compare the royal wedding!

Okay visionaries, the moment to invade C-Base has come again! The last time someone regretted not having a laptop and thus not being able to show his crazy projects or browse content mentioned by others, so this time i will remind you to bring your tools! Being them electronics, books or paper and markers. There are no presentations so it's peer to peer sharing. For who is new, i can say that C-Base is a dark place with beer and an internet connection, where we can stay until late. If somebody changed his mind please update your status, so the persons who are waiting will know that there is still space. The place is public but the tables are unfortunately limited, so it's just a matter of convenience.

Hey fellow visionaries, I'm looking forward to the meeting next week and I just wanted to offer up an opportunity to participate in an ongoing project that some of you may be interested in. To make a long story shorter, I am leading a multidisciplinary team to build an iconic space in Wedding in the form of a tree house. We plan on building in some sentient technologies into the space that react to people in the space as well as developing a freelance sustainable solutions consultancy. You can find out more about the project on our website: http://www.baumhausberlin.de/about/

I would be happy to talk some more about the project, answer any questions and entertain any clever ideas for those who are interested.

    Peace,
    Scott

I believe that data visualization could play a key role in contributing to the evolution of a socially sustainable and well balanced society. Our daily lives are full of complex shifting data in a constant feedback loop. I think that visualization can be used to help us make sense of some of that data so that we can use it to personally and socially evolve in sustainable and satisfying ways in balance with our environment. This is a challenge that requires multidisciplinary teamwork and can generate a great many opportunities of expression. However, if working on this challenge of our time does not appeal to some we also are building a 360° immersive environment in our seminar room using projection mapping that some members may be interested in helping to build or use when it is finished. A reference of this room appears in our 3-d fly through of the space (in the back room with projectors in the ceiling): http://www.baumhausbe...

I've read more about the project. Pretty interesting! I should come some evening to your meetup or to the baumhaus place to see what are you building there!

Hi guys, it's a pitty, but I won't make it to Berlin next week. Will there be another meetup this year? I hope so very much! :) Have a good time on Monday. Ewa

Sure Ewa, the idea is to do one meeting per month, and anyway on meetup anybody can propose a meeting in a bar, for example, and who's interested can join. So if the dates offered us by C-Base are not convenient for you, you can always try to organise for an alternative evening!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
