What is your favorite tool for visualizing data?

I enjoy creating infographics using tools like and, and using Tableau to go beyond bar charts.

Do you think data visualization is more of an art or more of a science? Why?

Data viz is a perfect mix of both art and science. A visualization loses its utility if the content and its context are not organized in a way that is clear, digestible, and actionable. This requires sufficient understanding of how the information was collected and transformed, its limitations, and its impact. It also requires a creative mind to develop ways to display the information so that people want to look at it, understand it, and do something as a result of seeing it.
