Show and Tell and Networking

It's time to plan our next gathering. Hope this date/time works for everyone. For an agenda, I would suggest we have 2-3 presentations of 30-40 minutes each. I'm happy to give my talk which is a great "why data visualization" primer that for this audience is well-translated to "how to sell data vis to my boss, colleagues, clients". I'm also hoping Lynn will give her talk on 50 Shades of Grey. If anyone else would like to present something for this meetup or a later one, please let me know. I think just about anything is fair game - show and tell of your own work (or someone else's), software demonstrations, talks about best practices or issues we face, talks/presentations on data, design, programming, statistics....I think the agenda is wide open.

For this next meetup, we will be gathering at Smith Hall, Room 301 at Bentley thanks to David Oury

David recommends parking in Lots L6 or L7. Room 301 of Smith Hall is B57 on the campus map and is on the same floor when you enter the building from the main doors on the north side of the building which is where you’d enter if you parked in lots L6 or L7 and then walked onto campus.

    Great meeting.

There is a magazine for designers call "HOW"; the July 2013 issue has an article on type and infographics that looks interesting.

I'd love to see it but can't find it on their website. If you have the link can you share?

It's hardcopy and hard to find. Perhaps I could report on it at the next meeting.

I will be prepared to demo Vortex, that "other visualization tool", as we described it last time (a competitor to the visualization tool that rhymes with "Pot Mire")

Hey Bill, I would love to snag a 30 minute slot, talk about how I approach a data visualization project, build in Xcelsius and show an example system.

Bill, I could talk for 20 minutes and show how we use D3 treemap plots to show unit test code coverage + complexity in single high impact chart.
