Hey Everyone,

At the next DataPhilly we will be hosting talks by Jeff Patti and Pat O'Brien at Monetate!

Jeff Patti will give a talk about how to use the python library NumPy to generate various statistics about data.

Pat O'Brien will give a talk about the python library Pandas and how to use it to manipulate and present meaningful information in data analysis.

If you're interested in giving a lighting talk, let me know!

Schedule:

6:30-7:00 - Food and networking

7:00-8:00 - Presentations from Pat and Jeff

And here is the link to the iPython notebook I used to show how to use numpy, scipy, and matplotlib for statistics: http://nbviewer.ipython.org/5321560

Thank you all for coming. Here is the iPython notebook I used to demo pandas using data from PPD. http://nbviewer.ipython.org/5321515

Didn't follow everything, but really enjoyed seeing what could be done with Python.

Interesting meetup and set of topics - A lot of Python's value lies in all the libraries for it. The lightning round session was great too - can't wait for the next meetup. Twiiter: @SujanKapadia

Both presenters provided really good intros to their areas: have ordered "Python for Data Analysis" & look forward to getting into SciPy, NumPy, & Pandas! And the lightning talk was great, tho Kaggle looks like a formidable time sink! :)

Being blown away. Just seeing people and faces that share a passion for python and its potential to shape data.

Here's a link to gnumpy which has an interface that is almost identical to NumPy, but it executes on you GPU (CUDA enabled). It also has a simulation mode to run on your CPU.
