In our work at Emphanos we have non-profit clients all over the United States and abroad that would be interested in having their data visualized and analyzed.
Yes, I have strong background in quantitative analysis of large data sets with Python and Matlab, lots of experience in filtering, data aggregation, and visualizations (geospatial and time series). I've also worked with classification/decision support, and genetic algorithms and parameter estimation problems.
Usually organic vegetarian or vegan options. My go-to reference is Deborah Madison's landmark cookbook "Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone" http://goo.gl/wkdOw, literally every recipe in there is a winner.
I'm really excited about open source tools and tool chains that take messy data and turn it into useable data sets, so Google Refine, Pentaho Data Integration, Git, CKAN, and Jenkins for Continuous Integration are at the top of my list. I absolutely love ipython and matplotlib, and would recommend it to anyone starting out with Python programming. Excited to learn more about D3 and Pandas.
Great group of people wanting to use their data science skill for the greater good. Looking forward to growing this community and learning a lot of new and exciting tools and techniques.

Young-Jin,
Thanks so much for the heads-up about the Chicago CiviCRM group. I was actually just starting to read through the documentation you pointed me toward, so I'll continue with that and then dig into the forums and other participation resources. Thanks for your help.
