Compassionate Communication, also known as Nonviolent Communication, is a method of communicating that takes us past debating who is right or wrong towards relating one's personal experience.  We meet on the First and Third Monday of the month at 6 pm.  We meet at the church at 640 Hawthorn Lane Davis, CA, in classroom 8 (St. Martin's Episcopal Church).  The classrooms are behind the church and to the left, right next to the parking lot. Sessions run for 2 hours.  There is no charge to attend, and new folks are always welcome.

In each Practice Group meeting you'll practice giving and receiving empathy. You'll also practice through games, exercises, and role-play how to express yourself authentically in a way that encourages connection and avoids triggering fight-flight-freeze reactions. This is a great space if you are looking for somewhere to hone your NVC skills, join a community of people dedicated to growing in compassion, or if you’re interested in learning more about Compassionate Communication.

These Practice Group sessions are organized by myself, Alex.  If you'd like to learn more about Compassionate Communication, I'd suggest you start with either my own website: or the Center for Nonviolent Communication:

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
