Hike Fernwood/Layton Peak trail in Layton

Last minute hike. Anyone wanting to join, meet at the fernwood trailhead at 10 am. I'm going to keep it fairly short and sweet (unless I get a last minute spurt of energy). Would love to have some fellow hikers join me.

I guess as Dwight put it, I should define 'short'. Most likely under an hour. It is an easy to moderate hike depending on which route we take. If we go toward the 'Castle' it's a little more moderate than easy. If we go the other way, it is more easy. Most hikes that groups deem moderate are DIFFICULT for me. So that gives you an idea just how easy my moderate is!

I've updated the directions on how to get there. I copied and pasted from another site but they weren't accurate.

From Hwy 89 in Layton Utah, turn 'East' onto Cherry Lane between mile markers[masked] (by Grounds for Coffee). Make an immediate left onto Valley View Drive (heading north). In 0.5 miles, turn right ('East') onto Fernwood Drive. Follow Fernwood for another 0.5 miles and make a right at the T intersection. You will pass a tremendous “Castle” home on your left, and then enter the Forest Service trailhead area. Street parking is permitted.

There are two different directions we can take. One is very easy and meets the Bonneville Shoreline Trail which is flat. The other is a bit more rigorous but still pretty easy for beginners.

Hey, no problem Dwight. Makes perfect sense. My hikes for a while are going to be 'short'.

I wish I could come but won't be able to. I'm hoping to be able to come on more hikes.
