we can meet at 90th south at 9:20am. When you get off I-15 at 9000 S., go east and there is a tire store on the right just after you go under the freeway bridge. I think it is Big O Tires. I drive a little red pick up truck. I'll wait there for you. Call if you have problems or are running late.
One word of caution: there are two Cottonwood Canyons. The first one you come to will be Big Cottonwood Canyon. Stay on Wasatch Blvd until you come to Little Cottonwood Canyon rd, then go east.
I don't want to confuse you, but an alternate to the directions I gave earlier would be to go on I-15 through Salt Lake to 9000 South and follow it East all the way to the canyon. 90th does an "S" curve and turns into 94th S. at about 1000 East and then eventually becomes Little Cottonwood Canyon Rd.
My cell is [masked]. You should figure roughly 20 minutes from downtown Salt Lake to the canyon. My guess is you are probably 30-45 minutes from your house to Salt Lake, so if you figure an hour and 15 minutes total you should be fine. Actually, you should be able to do it quicker than that, but there is always a fudge factor. Let me know if you want to meet somewhere off I-15 and we can go together. It's a slightly different route than what I described, but gets us there about as quickly.
I'm actually coming from the South, so you wouldn't be able to follow me, but here are some directions from S. Weber:
Take I-15 South through Salt Lake to I-80 East. Follow it up to the mouth of Parleys Canyon and veer south on I-215. Take the 6200 S./Wasatch Blvd exit (#6) and go east to the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon. The trail head is 6 miles up the canyon from there. Look for Tanner's campground and the trail head will be on the right.
I hope this helps.
