Snow shoeing with kids

Dads,
I would like to arrange a snow shoeing excursion sometime in the February timeframe, but being a novice to the sport, and never having done it with kids, I wouldn't know where to do it. We would obviously need someplace fairly flat, with easy access, and low avalanch risk. It would also need to be relatively close to the Seattle Metro area (less than an hour drive, I would say). Does anyone in the group have experience snow shoeing with toddlers? If you do, and are interested in helping me organize an outing, please get in touch with me. Even if you are not interesting in coordinating an event, I would appreciate any advice you could provide.
